Naharia

Meir Bineth wrote in Naharia, Israel on the 13.1.1950:
Sometimes I stand in front of a little sapling which just has been planted and feel somehow the urge to stroke it - to defend it: to stand opposite the wind that it may not be blown to death.
Yes, I have been to many countries, have seen more beautiful, more overwhelming landscapes but never - never did nature strike me as deeply as here, never did I feel so completely part of it. It is here, indeed here, for the first time in my life that I feel like: My hill, My valley, My sky, My tree that I feel that strong, earthbound mystical force of ancient ancestorship, which perhaps amounts to nothing else than just HOME - simply HOME.
